Here, you will find answers to commonly asked questions about several things about the preparation for the upcoming 2025 Summer School FAT UGM & TLIAP NUS + FH Upper Austria which will take place in June! This page will be updated regularly to accommodate new questions.

I am from Singapore/transit at Singapore
We strongly advise for your convenience, to fly directly from Changi Airport (SIN) to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) by using Scoot.
Otherwise, you can also fly with a connecting flight from Changi Airport (SIN) to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) by transit to Jakarta or Kuala Lumpur.
I am from Kuala Lumpur/transit at Kuala Lumpur
We strongly advise for your convenience, to fly directly from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) by using AirAsia.
Otherwise, you can also fly with a connecting flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) by transit to Jakarta.
I am from Jakarta/transit at Jakarta
From Soekarno–Hatta International Airport (CGK), you can fly to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) by using several airways. We strongly recommend you choose Garuda or Citilink, as other airways are prone to delay.
If you want to experience new things, you can try to use an intercity train from Jakarta (Gambar Train Station) to Yogyakarta (Yogyakarta Train Station) which takes time for 6-7 hours. There are several options for trains, however, the best schedule to depart from Jakarta is 06.00-14.00 so that you can arrive in Yogyakarta at 12.45-20.00. The train ticket price range is from IDR550,000-850,000 (also there are higher-priced tickets that offer more exclusive/high-class service starting from IDR1,200,000-2,000,000).
I am from Bali/transit at Bali
From I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), you can fly to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) by using several airways. We strongly recommend you choose Garuda, as other airways are prone to delay.
NOTES:
At the Airport’s Immigration desk when entering Indonesia, you must present your Visit Visa Index C9 since you are participating in the Summer School.
If you plan to have a vacation in Indonesia before the Summer School is held, to avoid the risk of deportation and the uncertainty of visa approval from the Immigration authority, there will be several options to be chosen:

Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) is located 50 km from Yogyakarta City/Universitas Gadjah Mada or one and a half hours by car.
There are several options to transfer from the airport to your accommodation:
Airport Train
You will use the airport train from the airport to Yogyakarta city (Yogyakarta Train Station). Afterward, to go to your accommodation from the Yogyakarta train station, you can order a conventional taxi (strongly recommends BlueBird taxi) or ride-hailing (GrabCar or GoCar).
There are 2 types of airport train:
Regular airport train: 39 minutes travel, free-seating/no dedicated seat, IDR20,000. (You might be standing if there is no vacant seat when the train occupancy is high. Nevertheless, it is a really rare case.)

YIA Xpress: 35 minutes travel, dedicated seat, IDR40,000-60,000 (vary to the schedule). (Green-colored highlight & starred. On the weekend, there are additional 1 schedule for YIA Xpress with pink-colored highlight & starred.)

Shuttle
You can use Damri as a shuttle from YIA Airport to Sleman City Hall shopping mall (recommended route). Afterward, to go to your accommodation from Sleman City Hall shopping mall, you can order a conventional taxi (preferably BlueBird taxi) or ride-hailing (GrabCar or GoCar).
Damri shuttle operates from 06.00-19.00 with a departure every hour, one and a half hours travel, a dedicated seat, IDR80,000.

Taxi
You can transfer directly to your accommodation by ordering a conventional taxi (strongly recommends BlueBird taxi) or ride-hailing (GrabCar or GoCar).
The taxi rate is around IDR250,000-300,000.

The student buddy from UGM will meet you at Yogyakarta International Airport. We will provide the detailed arrangements later.

You are mandatory to get a health pass by filling out https://sshp.kemkes.go.id/ which must be completed within 48 hours of your departure.
For example: if you plan to enter Indonesian territory on June 1, you can start filling out from May 30.

Meal prices vary depending on the type of establishment. Local street vendors and small restaurants offer affordable meals ranging from IDR10K-25K. Mid-range cafes and restaurants price their dishes from IDR25K-50K. High-end restaurants, including those in shopping malls and fast-food chains, typically charge IDR40K-150K for their menu items.

Of course! You can use GrabFood in Yogyakarta to order your meals. Sadly, Foodpanda is not operating anymore in Indonesia, instead, we have Gojek (GoFood) dan Shopee (ShopeeFood) which also offer food delivery services. Usually, the service fee spans about IDR10K-15K.

No, it is different. Indonesia mostly has type C and type F power plugs. So, please prepare an adapter.

No, you cannot. The law regulates that all transactions in Indonesia must be done in Indonesian Rupiah.
You can bring an Indonesian Rupiah in cash by obtaining it in money changers or withdraw it from an ATM (with payment card brands such as Cirrus, Visa, JCB, Union Pay, Plus, American Express, Discover, and Maestro).
You can also use your Singaporean bank app to do QR code payments in Indonesia.
